Companies on the decarbonisation path

Citeve is working on a roadmap to help companies in the textile and clothing sector decarbonise.

The aim is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 90 per cent by 2050. Some companies in the region are following this path, reusing water in the production process and producing energy.

The largest textile and clothing companies operating in the Castelo Branco district have long since embarked on the path to decarbonisation by installing photovoltaic panels for self-consumption, reusing water used in the production process and improving energy efficiency, among other measures in favour of environmental sustainability.

The textile and clothing sector makes a decisive contribution to creating wealth and jobs, but it continues to have a very significant impact on gas emissions, which must be reduced for the good of the planet.

This is the aim of Citeve - the Technological Centre for the Textile and Clothing Industries, which has (yet another) project underway in this area. The aim is for the sector to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 90 per cent.

Twintex (Fundão) and Fitecom and Paulo de Oliveira (Covilhã) are at the forefront.
